Heading Home

We left Yuma Lakes RV Resort Thursday morning, March 9th. Before we left, Jake and I took some more walks into the desert.

We went to Organ Pipe National Monument and stayed at Gunsite Wash BLM in Ajo, Arizona, for free. However, the road was narrow and the bushes scraped the sides of our trailer and truck!

Here are some pictures from Organ Pipe National Monument while we were boondocking at Gunsite Wash. This area was incredibly beautiful. We sure have enjoyed the desert Southwest.

Now, it is on to Carlsbad Caverns. I will try to get that post out at the next place we stop. My tablet died, but I bought a new one in San Antonio. Between the tablet dying and poor cellular in the desert, this post is a week late. We are currently at Medina Lake RV Park, a Thousand Trails campground near San Antonio, Texas, and our site is incredible.

Last night, Kay saw some deer run through the woods behind our trailer.

Cedar trees separate us from the sites beside us. Great privacy. Almost as good as boondocking and we have electricity, water and sewer. Oh, and good cellular, so that I can finish this and post it.

I am a camper at heart. When I moved to Colorado, I bought a tent and family vacations were spent camping in the mountains or at National Parks in nearby states. The family loved it. We did a lot of primitive camping. Years later, I met and married Kay. I still had my old canvas tent and we started camping. We had such a disastrous first experience that I am surprised that Kay continued camping with me. We promptly upgraded to a HUGE nylon tent with a built in fly. We continued to upgrade and bought a used popup and thought that was terrific. We were still camping on sites with no water or electricity. One day a co-worker announced he was selling his old travel trailer. It was a bargain, so we bought it. We continued to camp on sites with no electricity and water. Then, in 2005, we bought a brand new 29-foot travel trailer and a Chevy 2500 HD Silverado pick up to pull it. Our first trip out was going to be our favorite state campground with no water or electric hook ups, but it was closed. We went to Salisbury Beach campground which had both water and electric hook ups. Kay loved it. We received a flyer from Tuxbury Pond RV Resort Campground in New Hampshire, so Kay suggested that we camp there the next weekend. Our camper left Tuxbury Pond for only one more trip that year (Baltimore, MD) and then never left again. I did not need my 2500 HD because that trailer never left the campground until it was traded for our new trailer in October 2015.

The adventure has begun. I retired on September 1, 2016 and we are on the road to destinations unknown.
